Life as a Working Musician in Kingston, Ontario

River Cats musician performing live in Kingston Ontario

Being a working musician in a city like Kingston is not the life people picture. It is less tour bus and more van with a good playlist, and honestly we would not trade it.

Most of us balance the band with the rest of life. Rehearsals happen around work and family, gear lives in the trunk, and a Friday that ends at two in the morning still means being up the next day. It takes real love for the thing to keep doing it, and we have plenty of that.

Kingston makes it worth it. The city is big enough to have a real scene and small enough that the scene feels like a community. You run into the same faces, you trade gigs and gear, and you build something a bigger city might not give you.

The waterfront, the venues, the summer festivals, they all add up to a place that genuinely supports live music. We wrote a whole guide to the local venues because there are more good ones than most people expect.

If you want to know who is actually behind the band, our member page introduces everyone. And if you are a Kingston event looking for live music, you already know where to find us.

See you around town.
