A year goes fast when you are booking shows. We started this band not knowing exactly where it would go, and twelve months later we have a stack of gigs behind us and a much clearer idea of who we are.
The first thing we learned is that the crowd runs the night more than the band does. You can plan a perfect set, but the room always votes with its feet, and the best shows happen when you actually listen to that vote.
The second thing is that reliability matters as much as talent. Showing up on time, setting up clean, and finishing strong is what gets you booked again. Plenty of great players never figure that part out.
The third thing is that a city will back you if you back it. Kingston gave us rooms to play and crowds to play them for, and the more we leaned into being a real Kingston live band, the more the year opened up.
We are grateful for every room that had us and every person who danced. There is a lot more coming, and you can see what is next on our shows page.
Onto year two.
